As one of the Theta family members, it never gets old hearing stories from our guests about the ways our spa has helped them. This story was particularly impactful.
It’s the first time that I unclenched my jaw in probably my entire adult life. ~Tiffany M.
Guests use our flotation therapy, cold immersion pools, saunas and massage for a vast number of reasons, anxiety and trouble sleeping are fairly common complaints of many of our guests. Specifically, though, flotation therapy, or restricted environmental stimulation therapy (REST) , is arguably the best way to be present, uninterrupted and relaxed. Some even report euphoria, increased well-being, and feeling more optimistic following therapy using a sensory deprivation tank, like Tiffany, for example. She shared her experience with us that she had posted on her Snapchat story. You can watch it here on our IG reel.
Tiffany was referred to us by one of our regular guests who uses the spa to manage anxiety and depression associated with grief. She also utilized our Finnish-style sauna and cold plunge before floating as she described in her video. The combination of all of these services consecutively provides the most diverse experience and collective benefit on the body as a whole.
Bonus….LOL…if you know us well, you know we love data! She also shared her sleep data with us. She awoke the next morning feeling better and more rested and even has the evidence to show it in colors and numbers.
At the end of Tiffany’s video, she referred to this “weird, amazing, meditative state” while she was floating. Hearing this always makes us grin from ear-to-ear, giddy because that means you’ve reached what we’re named for, the theta brain wave state.
As stated in NeuroHealth Associates’ website, theta waves are strong during internal focus, meditation, prayer, and spiritual awareness. It reflects the state between wakefulness and sleep and relates to the subconscious mind. It is abnormal in awake adults but is perfectly normal in children up to 13 years old. It is also normal during sleep. Many of our guests use our float pools for creativity and meditation, this is why.
Thank you, Tiffany, for sharing your story with us. Stories like these may be exactly what someone else needs to hear in order to take that first step to try something new and different to contribute to their wellbeing. Whether it’s sleep problems, symptoms of depression, anxiety or stress, or perhaps you’re looking for a quiet place to be with yourself, uninterrupted, we invite you to join us at Theta Wellness Center.
